I used my free time in Chiang Mai to search for an internet cafe place, as. I still felt weak. In the night I went to the Sunday night market for a bit. The next morning I left to Pai. It's a small hippie village surrounded by some nature, hot springs (who ever need them at 38 degree) and temples (as usual). Ping, a Chinese girl grown-up in the states, just asked me to share a room to safe some money. So after a while we found a cheap and ok room for 200 Baht and booked it for 2 nights.
Just because Pai is small, doesn't mean it's not full of tourists and hostels.
I went for a shower and we checked out the few roads which form the city center. I booked a Yoga class and we found a little bakery. How much I already miss good food, well European food. So I decided to have breakfast at this place the next morning. As we have been walking, we found awesome fruit shake and a Falafel place, which sells Schnitzel too! It made me laugh a lot. I was starwing for something which is not rice or noodles, so Falafel it should be. But the shop was opening too late and we got some noodles against the hunger. In a little bar we got a "Chang" and listen to the owners open mic night.
The next morning I had a really good sandwich, some, well funny Yoga with Mam, a 65 years old Indian/Thai woman who can really bend herself and than I wanted to try myself in riding a scooter. As I got a license with my car license and its the best and cheapest way to get around in Thailand I wanted to try my luck. There are 1000 places renting scooters in Pai, but it didn't seem to be my day: "The guy who can show is back at 3pm." Or the helmet was too big. After a lot of shops and one hour I gave up. I called Ping, to ask if she already left the town. She did. I told her that I'm stuck and will just chill. So I started to read my book as she called and said: "Fuck it, I come back to get you and we drive around together."
So she made my day by driving me to the memorial bridge and the big white Buddha in the mountain next to the town. After she showed me how to drive we had amazing Falafel and a peanut butter-banana-smoothie. On the 9th I left Pai at.7am to go to Chiang Rai and than one to Sky, a hell of a guy from Alaska, which should be my next couchsurfer.
